Even if your child’s asthma flares only occasionally, we need to be aware of his/her triggers, symptoms and a plan should any acute situation arise. Please return the Asthma Management Plan to me as soon as possible, signed by your physician.
Also, if your child has permission to carry his/her own inhaler, it is an Indiana state law that we must have written permission and a physician signature. If your child carries his/her own inhaler, keeping it in a backpack or locker, an extra inhaler must be sent to school to keep with the Nurse. It is not uncommon for the backpack inhaler to be left somewhere and the child is without.
If your child has an asthma flare up, is using his/her inhaler more or had extra nebulizer treatments over night, please contact me in the morning so I can check on your child throughout the day.
Please feel free to contact me with any concerns or questions.
