Santa Suits and Ugly Sweaters: A Recap of the Christmas Fun Run

Anyone driving by Greenwood Christian Academy on Saturday morning, December 17th may have wondered at the sight of runners clad in Santa Suits shuffling down the icy street. Who would brave rain and cold to run outside dressed as St. Nick? The participants of GCA's first annual "Christmas Fun Run," that's who.

Marketing and Development Coordinator Annie Houston, in partnership with the Greenwood Rotary members, created the "GCA Christmas Fun Run" to raise money for students scholarships at Greenwood, Whiteland and Greenwood Christian Academy. "Considering the weather, the event went well," explains Annie. "We had about 70 runners participate out of the 107 who singed-up."

With the success for this year's event, what are plans for the future?  "We are planning to make it an annual event. We would like to extend the course  and have the Santas run through downtown Greenwood so we can showcase the city, parks, and trails."
