Big Business in BizTown

On Monday, December 5th, the 5th and 6th grade students ventured to Biztown for their annual business outing. "Junior Achievement Biztown" (or "Biztown" for short) is "dedicated to educating students about career exploration, work readiness, entrepreneurship, financial literacy and philanthropy through experiential, hands-on programs." Each student is assigned a position at a company ("Eli Lilly" and "Indianapolis Power and Light" for example) and learn the ins-and-outs of their careers. 6th grader Nathan Levenhagen was nominated Mayor for the day and oversaw each students' job performance. By the end of the day, students walk away with an appreciation of the work that shapes our way of life, and the skills required in having a "grown-up" job.
