Well, it’s that time of year. The Winter sports are finally coming to a close, the cold winters will soon vanish, the warm weather will soon arise, and GCA Cougar baseball will prepare for the season ahead.
This will be GCA’s sixth year of baseball, and sectional championships haven’t been uncommon for the cougars. The Cougars have won a few sectional championships since the sport was established, but this year’s team has some obstacles to hurdle.
Greenwood Christian Academy Senior Ethan Chupp says that he “looks forward to this season after a year off [from baseball]. I enjoy playing with underclassmen and seniors.” This year’s GCA team is very young. Many of the former seniors have left, which means that there are some spots to fill. “We will focus on the skill we have now. We will focus on this year and not the past.” As a senior, it is a big responsibility to play as a leader. Chupp plans to be the leader that the Cougars need. “I will lead through my actions and encouragement. I love encouraging others and keeping their heads up.”
GCA baseball will start practicing in March. There should be a lot of new experiences and memories created. With each new season comes new opportunities for great joy and perseverance. When a team comes together in unity and lives in the God-given strength to perform their talents and abilities, knowledge, skill, and success happens.
